What is PowSurf?
PowSurf is an easy and simple recreational activity for all levels of snow lovers. We use custom shaped PowSurf boards without bindings. It's just like surfing or skateboarding, but on fluffy powder snow instead.
Why Hokkaido?
Cold Siberian winds blow over the Japanese sea creating a lot of snow inland. The cold temperatures of this Northern island keep the snow light and dry throughout the winter months. The island is dotted with many smooth hills and rugged mountains. This combination of relentless snow and infinite terrain makes every day a good day for PowSurfing.
First time surfing on powder snow
Even if it's only your first time seeing snow, you can still enjoy PowSurfing! It is surprisingly easy to start and have fun! It doesn't matter if you are 6 or 60 years old - everyone is a child at heart. 100% of our clients stand up and surf down on all of our tours!
Experienced skiers and snowboarders
If you are an expert snowboarder or skier, PowSurfing will make you stoked again! It will bring you back to the first time you rode on snow. It's a pure, simple, and fun activity shared with friends and surrounded by nature. It's also a great way to share the stoke when you are in a group of mixed abilities.
PowSurf board
We have a range of handcrafted boards to suit your size, riding style, conditions, and terrain. Stable boards are for beginners, while faster boards will challenge experienced riders. You can also join our workshop to make your own board. There is no better feeling than PowSurfing with your own personal creation.

"Powsurf with Yasu was super fun!!!! There’s no feeling like riding fresh pow...without bindings!!! Having no bindings to strap in made riding on snow easier. Just walk up, stand on the board and go! I fell a few times but falling in fresh snow doesn’t hurt at all... it’s fun! Such an amazing experience in the beautiful Hokkaido country side. Can’t wait to do it again! Thanks for all the beautiful photos, Yasu!"
